Our Workshops

Project realization workshops

Many of our teachings and research-creation projects are supported by several specialized workshops. A team of dedicated technicians, the infrastructures and the school equipment allow students to carry out their projects.

Multi technical workshop

This complex of workshops allows students to make prototypes and models of design and architecture related to the courses taught at the School. Wood, aluminum, steel, styrenes, acrylics, ceramics and some plastics and composites are used. There is molding, turning, machining and welding. There is a vacuum press that can roll objects such as furniture. Sandblasting surfaces can be worked on and the necessary equipment is available for serigraphy printing.

Digital equipments

The multi technical workshop also has a digital section. It includes, among other things, a rapid prototyping printer for producing 3D models in ABS from digital files (STL); a 3D scanning system for objects or spaces without size limits; and a laser cutting machine for quickly etching and / or cutting patterns and surfaces in a variety of materials such as acrylic, styrene, wood or metal.

The 24 hours workshop

A 24-hour workshop section dedicated to the assembly of prototypes and the production of models. It also allows students to work beyond the opening hours of the multi technical workshop, only if they have been previously authorized.

DESS Transportation Design Workshop

A workshop with tables especially dedicated to the students of the DESS to settle down and realize the practical projects. The workshop becomes an interactive place in which students and teachers can discuss the different projects.

Publishing laboratory and digital image

This laboratory equipped with powerful computers and printers that allows creating graphic images such as posters, logo, web page, etc., from the software of Adobe Master edition, Finalcut pro, Motion, After FX, Fontographer, Open Office, Toonboom, Pro Studio DVD, Premier Pro and Soundtrack Pro. It also has a photo studio equipped with digital photographic and video (HD) equipment with lighting, flash, seamless, tripods, LED lighting.

Computer lab

Located on the 6th floor of the School of Design, the laboratory is divided into five rooms, three of which are mainly used for teaching, a room used for individual work with 15 workstations and a room with four assembly stations. Many software is available to students: Solid Work, Rhino, Maya, Autocad, Photoshop, Illustrator, Design, Microsoft Office, Antidote, and others.

The lab also has two standard black and white printers and a 12 "x 18" color printer. All computers are networked.

The lab is open from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm Monday to Friday and from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekends during the semesters.

The Design Center
