Studying in design of transport equipment
This program offers you complete training in transportation design, through projects and in collaboration with major companies (BRP, Tesla, Bombardier Aerospace, etc.). You will have exceptional support of our teachers and highly specialized external resources. All you need to become a great creator of the futur of mobility :

Scholarships and financial support
During the DESS Graduate Final Project , students can be accredited by the Mitacs-Accélération program and receive funding (at least 10 000$) to complete their project. To support you in your studies, you could also get a job on campus within services such as student cafes, the Student Recruitment Office, the Library Service, the Registrar… or as a research and teaching assistant, research assistant, lecturer, instructor (if you study at the right graduate level)
Student life on campus
UQAM is located in the heart of Montreal. The Central campus and the Pierre-Dansereau Science Complex are part of the Quartier Latin and Quartier des Spectacles. This multicultural city offers an urban lifestyle where you can fulfill your creative side and get inspired by the cultural effervesce in arts and science. A short walk from the city historical neighborhoods and many green parks, the university is directly accessible by metro stations at Berri-UQAM and Place-des-Arts. A bike path and several Bixi bike stations are located near all the pavilions.

DESS graduates in transportation design hold positions as industrial designers, project managers, researchers, teacher-consultants or company executives in the field of transportation and product design. They worked in design offices, research work groups, R & D offices, innovation centers or advanced design centers, and in the different designs of large manufacturing companies or small businesses. They can also be part of educational institutions, research organizations or transport divisions of private and public organizations. They also act as advisers in public associations or for private companies.
DESS graduates in transportation design are involved in the following areas:

For the Inland transport equipment alone, data from Québec's 2011 industry includes more than 1,100 companies that employ more than 40,000 people and generate revenues of more than $ 11 billion. The specialty vehicle sector alone includes 475 companies, 16,000 jobs and $ 4 billion in revenue.
Several graduates of the DESS in Transportation Design have used graduate and postgraduate studies and have positioned themselves as researchers or teachers in the field of product design, energy and transportation.
The DESS program in transportation design is accredited for the tax credit designated for the design of manufactured products (industrial design component).
Revenu Québec can give to an entrepreneur self-employed or to a corporation (most have the certificate of eligibility issued by the department), a tax credit for a project expenses in the industrial design field. It can cover for:
- Salary paid for an intern in your company·
- Honorary of an external designer or consultant
